HR Manager - Sarah
What do you do?
I joined The Crown Estate in October 2005 as HR Manager based at the London office. I work within a team providing HR support across the business; we deal with a wide variety of issues, from working with the various business units on recruitment and resourcing issues, through to implementing improvements in working practices.
Where did you come from?
Previously I was HR Manager for a tax consultancy, where I completed my professional qualification. Prior to moving into HR, I worked within sales and marketing for a property company. I was attracted to The Crown Estate as it is an interesting organisation currently undergoing an ambitious change programme. This presents an exciting challenge for HR within the business.
How does your role fit into your department and The Crown Estate as a business?
My role is a real mix of dealing with operational day to day issues, coupled with project work which has an impact across the whole business. There is high level support for HR within the organisation, and there is a real feeling that the organisation does value the contribution that HR can make.
What are your favourite aspects of the role and why do you enjoy working for The Crown Estate?
The sheer diversity of the business is appealing, and the ability to get involved in projects which have a real impact on the organisation. There is also huge support for the corporate responsibility programme, which I believe says a lot about the way an organisation treats its stakeholders, employees included!
What are your future career plans?
I want to continue in an HR generalist role for the medium term, and am keen to get to know the business units within The Crown Estate.
