Sustainable future

The Crown Estate is responsible for the management of an enormously diverse range of land and property in cities, the countryside and around the coast and has developed a corporate responsibility (CR) programme to meet the challenges this brings.

We take our responsibility very seriously and work with our customers and tenants to improve the quality of the built and physical environment in which we operate and preserve the best of our heritage for future generations.

Our commitment to sustainable development is underpinned by our three core values – commercialism, integrity and stewardship. These values inform and shape the work we do and the aspirations we hold.

Over the last three years we have been establishing a more formal approach to our corporate responsibility programme. We have set ourselves targets for each area of our business and have them independently monitored and audited each year. Increasingly we are able to measure empirically our performance and this is helping to shape our programme in the years ahead.
