  • New joint industry initiative to support UK wave and tidal energy

    The Crown Estate, Marine Scotland and Welsh Government have announced they will be funding Aquatera Ltd and their delivery partners MarineSpace and the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) to run a secretariat function for the new Offshore Renewables Joint Industry Programme (ORJIP) for Ocean Energy.

  • Offshore wind costs falling faster than expected

    Today’s news that two offshore wind projects have been successful in the first auction for renewable power held under the Department for Energy and Climate Change’s ‘Contract for Difference’ (CfD) regime, coupled with the findings of a new industry report, show that costs in offshore wind are coming down faster than originally expected.

    We are chairing a session and also sponsoring a pre-conference workshop on turbulence guidance, updating industry on technology reliability and wear and tear.

  • Largest global consent for offshore wind energy granted at Dogger Bank

    The first consent order for offshore wind energy at Dogger Bank in the North Sea has been granted today – making it the largest renewable energy development ever to receive planning consent in the UK and the largest offshore wind project to receive consent globally.

    Coastal Futures is an independently run conference bringing together policy makers, regulators and  stakeholders interested in marine and coastal environments. We are often called upon to play an active part in developing the programme and over the years have provided many speakers and chairs.

  • Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm granted gets the go ahead

    The Crown Estate has welcomed the news today that the consortium SMart Wind has been granted development consent for Hornsea Project One by the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. The project is scheduled to commence operation by 2020 when it will become the world’s first gigawatt scale far from shore wind farm.
