We are out in force at Coastal Futures 2015 conference, manning a stand and showcasing some of the recent publications.
Coastal Futures is an independently run conference bringing together policy makers, regulators and stakeholders interested in marine and coastal environments. We are often called upon to play an active part in developing the programme and over the years have provided many speakers and chairs.
Monthly Energy & Infrastructure Maps and GIS datasets available

As part of our aim to keep stakeholders and industry up to date with the development of offshore renewable energy and infrastructure projects around the UK, the GIS team have made available their monthly update of maps and GIS datasets showing the locations of existing assets and agreements.

The Crown Estate has welcomed the news today that the consortium SMart Wind has been granted development consent for Hornsea Project One by the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. The project is scheduled to commence operation by 2020 when it will become the world’s first gigawatt scale far from shore wind farm.

The UK offshore wind pipeline presents an investment opportunity of up to £21 billion by 2020, according to the publication “UK Offshore Wind: Opportunities for trade and investment” launched by Energy Secretary Edward Davey at the RenewableUK conference in Manchester today.

The Crown Estate has today published a report, one of the largest of its kind, which compares the data used from satellites against that of meteorological data gathered by offshore masts, which are both used to inform investment and design decisions for offshore wind farms.
