Welcome to The Crown Estate
Our energy programmes also include onshore projects on the rural estate
We work in partnership with recognised developers, looking at schemes which will not only provide renewable energy but also bring financial and other benefits to local communities. We actively welcome tenant participation in joint ventures.
However, we are mindful of concerns surrounding the development of wind farms and are keen to ensure that there is effective and open communication with local communities and stakeholders throughout the planning process.
We are working with our farm tenants to explore opportunities where we can develop renewable technologies. Our aim is that these will provide excellent and environmentally sound methods of renewable electricity and heat generation.
Our team is committed to developing farm scale initiatives which are commercially viable and provide opportunities for our tenants to invest alongside us in the implementation of these technologies.
We are fully committed to the pursuit of renewable energy initiatives at farm, commercial / business and residential levels.
We co-invest with our tenants in developing micro-generation technologies, such as air and ground source heat pumps, solar photovoltaic cells, small hydro schemes and small farm-scale wind turbines.
Such partnerships provide tenants with a degree of security against rising energy bills and help them access an additional diversified revenue stream.
