How we make decisions

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires that authorities have an approved publication scheme as a means of providing access to information they publish. The Information Commissioner's Office has developed a model publication scheme, which we have adopted here.

Our publication scheme was recently reviewed and refreshed and new material will be added regularly, so please call again soon to discover new published information.

Agenda, Minutes and Papers for Boards and Committees

The Crown Estate operates in the open property market and much of the information recorded in the papers and minutes of boards and committees is of a commercial nature.

Commercial information of this type would often attract an exemption under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) or an exception under the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR). The sensitivity of this information varies over time and what may be commercially sensitive today may lose its sensitivity in the future.

Keeping these documents open to the public in this constantly changing situation requires a disproportionate administrative burden to maintain the exemptions and associated redactions. We will deal with requests for copies of board papers, minutes and agenda on a case by case basis under FOI or EIR as appropriate.

Requests for documents should be sent to or write to:
