What we do
Our role is to manage and enhance the value of our coastal
assets. This includes issuing licences or leases for aggregates,
aquaculture, and cables and pipelines. We are also responsible for
marinas, moorings, and have an interest in at least parts of many
ports and harbours.
We provide active support, including capital, to help the
established businesses that currently generate the majority of the
coastal income. Our activity includes:
- marine minerals, primarily sand and gravel extraction, although
we also have interests in potash
- over 900 aquaculture sites that provide valuable employment and
generate wealth for local communities, particularly in remote areas
of Scotland
- managing thousands of leases or licences for works and
activities with ports, harbours, moorings and marinas
- providing leases and licences for the many telecommunications
cables and gas and oil pipelines which crisscross the seabed within
12 nautical miles of the UK coastline.
