Established in 1999, The Crown Estate's marine communities fund has already distributed nearly £2 million to a wide range of practical projects around the coast.
The fund was established to provide support to initiatives and programmes which contribute to the development of best practice, and make a significant contribution to the good management and stewardship of the marine estate.
The fund also supports projects raising awareness and involving coastal communities in the benefits of offshore renewable energy in the UK.
Projects must be directly relevant to Crown Estate property and comply with the Crown Estate Act 1961.

We welcome well developed and fully costed applications for projects around the UK coast. The application process is simple and straightforward. For more information on the points to be addressed please read the application form.
Funding Awards Process
Due to the large number of applications which we now receive we no longer operate a rolling process of assessing applications. In its place we have introduced a yearly funding round.
All applications are fully considered by an assessment panel.
Due to the high interest in the programme, we have allocated all the funds for 2010/11. The next funding round will be in January 2011 for projects beginning in the 2011/12 financial year. The funding round application date will be in January 2011.
