  • The Communications Store appointed for Regent Street

    The Communications Store has been appointed by The Crown Estate as the retained communications agency for one of London’s most iconic retail, business and lifestyle destinations, Regent Street.

    The account team, led by Lifestyle Divisional Director, Fiona Hemming will implement an integrated communications campaign involving digital, lifestyle, property, fashion and beauty specialists from across the agency. Activity will consist of strategic brand direction and planning, media relations, ambassador alignments, events, retailer coordination, digital consultancy and social channel management.

  • World’s largest floating wind farm moves to next stage

    A floating wind farm to be located off Scotland’s east coast at Buchan Deep, some 25 kilometres from Peterhead, is one step closer to becoming reality following The Crown Estate granting a lease to Statoil that will enable construction to commence. 

    The project - set to be the world’s largest floating wind farm - consists of five 6MW turbines which will be deployed in deeper water than any previous offshore wind turbines around the coast of the UK.

    The Crown Estate manages leasing of the seabed. The business’s team uses in-depth knowledge of the offshore renewables sector - covering planning and consenting, finance & commercial, environmental and legal issues - to actively manage the seabed to ensure it is sustainably developed and enjoyed to deliver best value over the long-term. 

  • Scotland’s maritime archaeology reveals shipwrecks, flying boats and cannonballs

    Maritime archaeologists working with residents of Scotland’s west coast have completed a three-year project revealing previously unknown archaeological finds. 

    The project, called SAMPHIRE and funded by The Crown Estate, worked by ‘crowd-sourcing’ information about possible archaeological sites in the marine environment.  The most promising locations were visited by teams of volunteer and professional archaeological divers to verify the information received. 

    Over 100 new sites have been recorded, including over 40 shipwrecks as well as flying boats, stone anchors and coastal wreck sites from Cape Wrath to the Solway Firth.

  • London Array offshore wind farm announces record output

    London Array have announced a new record for the amount of clean electricity produced by an offshore wind farm in a single calendar month.

    In December 2015 the renewable energy project generated 369,000 MWh of electricity. The capacity factor for the month was 78.9 per cent. Net overall output for the year was around 2,500,000 MWh, enough to meet the needs of more than 600,000 UK households (based on an average annual household consumption of 4,115 kWh).

  • New Marine Tourism Strategy in Scotland supported

    The Crown Estate believes that community-driven development will be key to the success of Scotland’s marine tourism action plan. The plan, being launched today by the Marine Tourism Development Group, has the aim of boosting the economic value of marine tourism in Scotland from £360 million to £450 million a year by 2020.

    As one of the partners in the plan’s development we believe that the commitment and capability of coastal communities will be central to the plan’s success. This is based on our experience of developing ‘Local Management Agreements’ around Scotland’s coast.

  • Banbury Gateway welcomes Primark

    Primark opens its doors at Banbury Gateway Thursday 18 November. The store opens at 10:00 and is the first and only Primark in the Banbury area.

    Primark offer a diverse range of products and the new Banbury Gateway store will stock the entire collection from baby and kids, to women's, men's, homeware, accessories, beauty products and confectionery.

    Banbury Gateway Shopping Park opened last month and offers retailers such as M&S, River Island, Carphone Warehouse and EE.

  • Marks & Spencer's store opens at Banbury Gateway

    The new M&S Banbury store opens its doors to customers Thursday 29 October at 10:00.

    Spanning over 80,000 ft2, M&S Banbury will offer customers a wide range of choice across fashion and food, including sought-after M&S brands. There will also be a 200-seat M&S Café in which to enjoy hot and cold dishes, Fairtrade drinks and freshly baked breads, pastries and cakes baked in-store each day.

    This follows the opening of several units on 28 October, including the River Island, Carphone Warehouse and EE stores.

  • Regent Street Motor Show 2015

    The Regent Street Motor Show is returning Saturday 31 October. The street will close to traffic and feature over 100 veteran cars, and the star the Aston Martin DB10 from the latest James Bond film. The event will also feature electric cars, classic bikes and hybrid vehicles, providing everyone with the chance to see the latest developments in low emission technology, the cars we will be driving in the future, along with one-of-a-kind designs.
