Enhanced carp offer at historic Windsor aims to lure discerning anglers

Windsor Great Park in Berkshire is set to confirm its status as a top-class carp angling facility with the announcement of its enhanced carp fishing offering which includes the launch of night fishing and the addition of a never-before fished lakeside to its fisheries.
Windsor Great Park’s Syndicate Manager, John Deakin said: “During last spring and summer we carried out thorough stock assessments, health checks of the fish, stock movement and a complete appraisal of our current facilities to restructure our offer for carp fishing specialists. We have redesigned the carp offering and are excited to announce the launch of an exclusive, limited-member syndicate.”

Windsor Great Park marks VE Day Celebrations

This Friday, 8 May, the Principal Beacon commemorating the 70th anniversary of VE Day will be lit in Windsor Great Park. The lighting of the beacon signals the moment at which over two hundred further beacons across the UK, the Channel Islands and Isle of Man will also be ignited.
The event marks the start of a week of celebrations for all those who took part in the Second World War in Europe, both on the Home Front and overseas.
Windsor Estate pilots Corporate Natural Capital Accounting

We chose to pilot Corporate Natural Capital Accounting, a new accounting framework developed for organisations to take better account of the natural capital they own, on our Windsor Estate. The framework was developed for England’s Natural Capital Committee by eftec, RSPB and PwC.
Mark Gough, our Head of Sustainability, said: “We’d advocate other organisations undertake CNCA in order to understand the wider societal value generated by natural capital assets, and inform budgetary discussions and priority setting.”
Upgrade of Windsor Great Park’s Blacknest car park

Work has begun on improvement work on Blacknest car park, closing the area for twelve weeks. The new car park will include a new all-weather surface, spaces for over 160 cars, including dedicated disabled spaces, enhanced lighting and a visitor orientation point. The area will also be landscaped, including the planting of 21 native oaks.
‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ at the Savill Garden

The fantastic new open air production ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ plays 25 - 26 July, The Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park. Children are invited to come along dressed in their best ‘Wonderland’ fashion.
Presented by the Cambridge Touring Company, the production also offers children the opportunity before the show to come to a theatre workshop on The Lawns at 5.30 pm. Tickets are on sale from the Savill Garden reception or by calling:
Windsor employees recognised in New Year’s Honours

Two long-serving Windsor employees have been awarded the Royal Victorian Medal (RVM) in the New Year's Honours list.
Ian Garnett retired on New Year's Eve as gardens team supervisor after working at The Crown Estate for 32 years, while Rob McGee has worked on the Windsor estate as a carpenter for 33 years.
Windsor Christmas trees on sale December 2013

Freshly cut Christmas trees are on sale in a variety of sizes from our depot in Windsor from 1 - 23 December 2013.
Set deep in the forest you can find the depot off the A332 between Windsor and Ascot. The entrance is signposted by the large and beautifully lit Christmas tree opposite the Pink Lodge. Mistletoe and holly will also be available to deck out every festive home.
We are open 9.00-17.00 including Saturdays and Sundays.
And once Christmas is over, our tree recycling facilities will be open at The Savill Garden from 6 January 2014.
