Website wins at UK IT Industry Awards 2014

The Crown Estate was a winner at the UK IT Industry Awards 2014 last night.

Winning the ‘Best not for profit IT project’ category in the 2014 Project Excellence Awards for the Marine Data Exchange website, we also were awarded a ‘Highly commended’ in ‘Best use of Cloud Services’.

The Marine Data Exchange is an internet portal which allows the public to freely access a wealth of data about the UK's territorial waters and beyond.

The awards, run by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and Computing, provide a platform for the entire IT profession to celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence. In total 24 awards were presented covering project, organisation, technology and personal excellence, and included awards such as security innovation, infrastructure innovation, business project, young IT professional and CIO of the year.

Paul Fletcher, Group Chief Executive Officer of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, said: “Congratulations to all the winners and those who were highly commended in our UK IT Industry 2014 Awards. The Awards recognise the professionalism and innovation that exists in IT. The quality of applications we received this year was excellent, but the winners stood out as exceptional and inspiring, and should be very proud of their success.”
