Matt Giles appointed Head of Development

We are pleased to announce that Matt Giles has been appointed from within the business to Head of Development.

05 March 2015

Matt Giles

Matt will be responsible for the Urban development project pipeline as part of our £1.5bn investment programme in London’s Regent Street and St James’s, as well as working with the portfolio management teams to identify new development and strategic land opportunities across the business as a whole.

Paul Clark, Director of Investment and Asset Management, said: “I am delighted to welcome Matt into this key role which will see him lead the development and project management team and manage our business critical partnership relationships, whether that’s with our development joint venture partners, key stakeholders like Westminster City Council, or our construction supply chain.

“This internal appointment reflects the strength of the development team we have built up over the last few years and I am sure that Matt’s considerable experience within the industry will stand him in good stead across all aspects of his new role.”

Matt has been working with our development team since 2013, and has been involved with a number of significant projects for the business, including the re-development of 10 New Burlington Place (W4), Quadrant 4 between Brewer Street and Sherwood Place, and St James’s Market, in addition to reviewing major opportunities in the development pipeline.

Matt Giles said: “It’s an honour to take up this role at such an exciting time for The Crown Estate. Our development pipeline is heading into a period that will see record levels of activity over a number of sectors, including the delivery of prime space in London’s West End, increased activity in the regional portfolio and bringing forward strategic sites for housing. I look forward to continuing to work with the excellent team here as we seek to deliver on our investment strategy and be the partner of choice wherever we work.”
