The Crown Estate wins at UK Property Awards 2015

Last night we were awarded ‘Developer of the Year’ at the 2015 Property Awards.

22 April 2015

The annual awards – now in their 20th year - recognise excellence across the property industry. In addition to Developer of the Year, we were also shortlisted for ‘Deal of the Year’ for our Church Commissioners (Pollen Estate) purchase, in partnership with Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM).

Our developer of the year accolade comes at a time when we are undergoing the most significant development pipeline in our history. This includes our landmark £320 million scheme to redevelop St James's Market in partnership with Oxford Properties. The scheme, which brings together world-class contemporary architecture, preserved historic facades and half an acre of revitalised public realm, is on-track to complete early next year.

In addition, our £250 million development at 10 New Burlington Street was completed in the last year and is now fully let. Major refurbishments have also taken place as part of our development programme including 11 Charles II Street and 11 Waterloo Place on our St James’s portfolio, and Quadrant II on Regent Street. Our development activity also extends to our regional portfolio and includes the completed leisure extension to the MK1 Shopping Park in Milton Keynes, and the recently commenced major redevelopment of the Westgate Centre in Oxford.

Matt Giles, Head of Development and Project Management said: “As part of our strategy of creating value by investing in our existing assets, we have delivered some truly world class developments over the year across St James’s, Regent Street and the Regional portfolio, so it’s fantastic that the hard work and dedication of the entire team have been recognised at one of the UK property industry’s most prestigious events.  It is particularly pleasing that this award applies to all aspects of the urban portfolios.”
