Local residents invited to public consultation for new homes on Land West of Cockernhoe

The Crown Estate is holding a public consultation to give the local community a further opportunity to view and comment on our proposals for new homes on Land West of Cockernhoe, following an initial round of consultation in July 2015.

The land, located to the East of Luton and West of Cockernhoe, is identified in the draft North Hertfordshire Local Plan. The local plan will set out the district’s housing requirements until 2031 and this site could help meet the unmet housing need from neighbouring Luton Borough Council.

Friday 15 January consulation: Cockernhoe Memorial Hall, 3 pm – 7.30 pm

Saturday 16 January consultation: Wigmore Church and Community Centre, 10 am – 1 pm.

Steve Melligan, Strategic Land Manager, said: “We have reviewed the feedback we received at the initial consultation event in July 2015 and have updated the plans. We now want to give the local community another opportunity to have their say, before a planning application is submitted to North Hertfordshire District Council later in the year.

“If people are unable to attend over the two days, a feedback form and the information boards on display will be available on our dedicated project website, after the events.”

Land West of Cockernhoe

We are an independent commercial business established by Act of Parliament and pay our profit to Treasury for the benefit of the nation’s finances. A core focus of our business involves actively promoting land across the estate for development, which helps to meet the needs of local communities for new commercial and residential accommodation. Last year we secured consent for 7,000 homes across the country. At the heart of how we work is a considered, collaborative approach. We seek to integrate all of our developments into the existing local communities and create desirable places to live.
