LIVE MUSIC AT THE SAVILL BUILDING

7 February 2008

The Royal Landscape is delighted to announce an exciting programme of live music in partnership with music students from Royal Holloway, University of London. The Savill Wednesdays programme of music will be different each week, ranging from flute and harp duos to singers, brass and vocal quartets, and jazz vocals. Performances will take place every Wednesday during term time from 13 February 3-4pm in The Savill Building and will be free of charge.

The Royal Landscape’s Operations Manager Nick Day said: “We are pleased to be working closely with Royal Holloway, University of London and we are lucky to have such talented musicians in the local area. The Savill Wednesdays programme will enable people to listen to exceptional young performers free and on their doorstep. The Savill Building will provide the ideal backdrop for visitors to come to relax and enjoy this exciting programme of music over refreshments in the restaurant.”

Dr Vanessa Gordon from the Music Department, Royal Holloway, University of London, added: “The students in this series of Savill Wednesdays represent just some of the many exciting musical skills to be found in the Department of Music. They enjoy performing and the wide range of instruments and different styles of music mean that there will be something for everyone to enjoy and to discover.”

The Savill Wednesdays programme begins on 13 February with flute duo Naomi Parker and Kasia Sikora-Black. Two of the pieces that they will be playing are Allegro and Minuetto for two flutes by Beethoven and Sonata for two flutes by Jean-Jacques Naudot.
