PEMBERTON GREENISH APPOINTED BY THE CROWN ESTATE TO PROVIDE LEGAL ADVICE ON ITS RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY PORTFOLIOS

1 March 2006

Pemberton Greenish has won a competitive tender to provide legal services to The Crown Estate for their residential property portfolios. The appointment takes effect from March 2006 and is for a period of five years.

This appointment is the second to be made by The Crown Estate as part of their review of legal services across their urban estate. It is the first time The Crown Estate has gathered all of their stand alone residential portfolios under the umbrella of a single law firm which will help facilitate the closer working partnership between The Crown Estate and its customers.

The residential portfolio includes properties at Regent’s Park, Kensington Palace Gardens and affordable housing estates in central London for key workers. They will also provide all the expertise on leasehold reform work.

David Harris, Head of Legal at The Crown Estate, said: “We are extremely pleased to appoint Pemberton Greenish as our panel law firm for our residential property portfolios. Pemberton Greenish excelled in both the importance they place on residential property work as a firm, their clear expertise in this area and the strength in depth of their team. They demonstrated a commitment to working with us so as to be able to place themselves alongside the culture and values of The Crown Estate and I’m confident that together we will provide an even better service for our customers.”

Damian Greenish, senior partner of Pemberton Greenish said: “We are delighted with our success in the tender. Pemberton Greenish was formed with the intention of providing specialist legal advice to the owners of urban landed estates and it is a well-earned reward for the hard working Crown Estate team here to see our ambitions fulfilled. We apply a modern approach to advising traditional landowners and adopt the same values as The Crown Estate in the way that we approach our business. We very much look forward to working with The Crown Estate over the coming years to provide a high quality and effective service for the benefit of their customers.”

The next appointment, to be announced shortly, will be for the Regent Street portfolio on the urban estate.
