ANDERSON STRATHERN APPOINTED TO PROVIDE LEGAL ADVICE ON SCOTTISH PROPERTY PORTFOLIOS

12 January 2007

Law firm Anderson Strathern has won a keenly contested competitive tender to retain the contract to be the sole provider to The Crown Estate for their Scottish legal advice. The appointment takes effect from 1 February 2007 and will run for a period of three years.

This appointment is the fourth to be made by The Crown Estate as part of their review of legal services across the estate.

The Scottish portfolio includes the seabed around the Scottish coastline and much of the foreshore, rural estates throughout Scotland, including Glenlivet in Moray and Applegirth in Dumfries, and commercial properties in Edinburgh, such as Princes Exchange, home of HBOS.

Vivienne King, Head of Legal at The Crown Estate, said: “We are extremely pleased to re-appoint Anderson Strathern as our panel law firm for our Scottish property portfolio. They have a unique understanding of our business in Scotland and demonstrated a commitment in their tender to working with us to place themselves firmly alongside the culture and values of The Crown Estate. I am confident that they will make a significant contribution towards our providing an even better service for our customers.”

Robert Carr, Chairman of Anderson Strathern, said: “We are delighted to continue to work with The Crown Estate in Scotland. The Crown Estate is unique in its diversity of interests. It is an important contributor to many aspects of the Scottish economy. It is already recognised as a leader in working with its partners in land management. We look forward to continuing the development of that profile with The Crown Estate.”

The next appointment, to be announced in the spring, will be for the rural estate.
