SAS Beach Cleans

As one of the UK’s largest coastal landowners, we are delighted to support the Surfers Against Sewage Beach Cleans, which help to enhance the marine and coastal assets that we manage for the benefit of the nation.

Beach clean

Each autumn, Surfers Against Sewage inspires thousands of volunteers to help clean up coastal locations across the UK, including some of our nation’s best-loved beaches, surf spots, coastal habitats and holiday resorts.

3,500

volunteers removed...

10 tonnes

of litter from...

165 beaches

in 2015.

The beach clean events are an opportunity for communities to come together to take direct action on marine litter and provide an engaging platform to raise awareness of the threat, scale and solutions to the marine litter crisis.

Dom Ferris, Projects Manager at Surfers Against Sewage, said, "In spite of some of the most challenging weather conditions we have ever faced, our Autumn Beach Clean Series 2015 was a fantastic success."

At the heart of the programme is a commitment to promote the need to close the loop on litter, by stemming the flow of plastics into our oceans and viewing the plastics already in our oceans as a resource rather than simply waste.
