THE CROWN ESTATE RE-OPENS WINDSOR GREAT PARK TO THE PUBLIC

5 November 2007

Windsor Great Park is to reopen to the public on Tuesday 6 November, following the recent incidences of foot and mouth disease near Windsor Great Park, in the Surrey area. Visitors will once again enjoy all areas of the park, including attractions such as the Long walk, Deer Park, Valley Gardens and Virginia Water.

The Savill Garden and Savill Building have been open since 19 October.

Philip Everett, Deputy Ranger, Windsor Great Park, said: “I am delighted to announce Windsor Great Park is to re-open and we are looking forward to welcoming the public back to Windsor Great Park to enjoy its beautiful autumn colours. Staff at The Crown Estate have missed the many people who use the park, and the vibrancy that horse riders, joggers, cyclists, and walkers, bring to the park.

“It has been a difficult time for everyone involved in the foot and mouth outbreak and I would like to thank our visitors, supporters and residents for being so patient throughout the period of the park’s closure.”
