REGENT STREET WELCOMES HABITAT

As part of The Crown Estate's £500 million redevelopment programme for Regent Street, The Crown Estate has invested £4.5 million into 123 Regent Street (formally known as New Gallery) restoring a major building just south of Heddon Street.
The Habitat store design is the first from Habitat's Non Executive Creative Director Tom Dixon who has been working on the project at every stage, from the interior restoration to the fittings. During the restoration process Habitat and The Crown Estate have worked painstakingly hard to preserve the amazing architectural and historical features of the building. They have restored a number of breathtaking original features. These include the magnificent auditorium and significant remaining features of the cinema such as the original gallery space with a vaulted plaster ceiling, Neo-Egyptian light fittings and original Wurlitzer organ.
Over the past three years, an amazing 36 new shops have opened on Regent Street that include the European flagship Apple store, Ted Baker, Quiksilver, Reiss, Zara, Gerry Weber, Frey Wille and Lacoste. The influx of contemporary brands join established Regent Street names such as Liberty, Aquascutum and Austin Reed.
