Grazing land surrounding Stirling Castle

Stirling estate is made up almost entirely of ancient possession land surrounding Stirling Castle, added to by the purchase of Old Mills Farm in 1972. There is evidence to suggest that Stirling became a principal Royal residence in the Stuart era, with revenue from the King’s Park first recorded as passing to the Exchequer in 1455.

It is one of our smaller estates, at only 183 hectares (450 acres). There are no longer any significant farming units but an area of grazing land is let on an SLDT and there is a small number of residential tenancies. King’s Park is also let partly to Stirling Golf Club, and the remainder to Stirling Council for recreational purposes.
