Windsor employees recognised in New Year’s Honours

Two long-serving Windsor employees have been awarded the Royal Victorian Medal (RVM) in the New Year's Honours list.

Ian Garnett retired on New Year's Eve as gardens team supervisor after working at The Crown Estate for 32 years, while Rob McGee has worked on the Windsor estate as a carpenter for 33 years.

Windsor Christmas trees on sale December 2013

Freshly cut Christmas trees are on sale in a variety of sizes from our depot in Windsor from 1 - 23 December 2013.

Set deep in the forest you can find the depot off the A332 between Windsor and Ascot. The entrance is signposted by the large and beautifully lit Christmas tree opposite the Pink Lodge. Mistletoe and holly will also be available to deck out every festive home.

We are open 9.00-17.00 including Saturdays and Sundays.

And once Christmas is over, our tree recycling facilities will be open at The Savill Garden from 6 January 2014.

Free admission into The Savill Garden during December

Throughout December admission into The Savill Garden is free! Father Christmas will be visiting The Savill Garden on selected dates, arriving on festive horse and carriage (subject to weather conditions!) Booking required.

Please note that normal car park charges apply, and that the Savill Garden is closed 24-25 December.

Free entry to Savill Garden throughout December

The Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park, is celebrating Christmas with free entry to the garden throughout December, saving a family £16. The winter beds bring together a variety of colourful and fragrant plants that brave the colder months and the seasonal displays in the Queen Elizabeth Temperate House will be stunning.

Winners at Royal Horticultural Society show

The Savill and Valley Gardens, Windsor Great Park, have won three prestigious categories at the 2013 RHS Shades of Autumn show in London.

Famous for their autumn display, The Savill and Valley Gardens won the following three categories:

  • Class 1 - displaying four trees / shrubs with autumn fruit (first prize)
  • Class 2 - displaying four trees / shrubs with autumn foliage (first prize and the Stephenson R Clarke Cup)
  • Class 3 - three conifers shown for foliage effect (first prize and the Rosse Cup)

New Virginia Water Pavilion formally opened

The Pavilion at Virginia Water has been formally opened by Chairman Sir Stuart Hampson.

The Pavilion will provide much needed facilities for visitors to Virginia Water Lake, The Valley Gardens and the surrounding area of Windsor Great Park.

Sculpture for The Savill Garden

Throughout September and October visitors to The Savill Garden will be able to explore and enjoy a display of imaginative and innovative sculpture, forming an exciting trail which leads around the garden.

The sculptures are inspired by the natural world. All pieces are available to purchase and standard Savill Garden entry fees apply.
