Hopkins Homes to deliver first phase of Thetford scheme
The Crown Estate and the Kilverstone Estate have announced the sale of the first phase of their Greater Thetford Strategic Urban Extension (SUE) scheme – known as Kingsfleet - to Hopkins Homes.
The Suffolk-based developer is well known across East Anglia with a reputation for a strong, design-led ethos which has seen them awarded several national awards and be selected as the lead developer on major projects throughout the region.
This first phase will see Hopkins Homes build around 350 homes, 15 per cent of which will be affordable, as part of a major extension to the Norfolk market town. They will also provide infrastructure to serve the first phase and the remainder of the site.
Thetford North, a 285 hectare site on the northern edge of the Norfolk market town, adjacent to the A11, has been successfully promoted through the planning process by Pigeon Investment Management on behalf of The Crown Estate and the Kilverstone Estate, which jointly control the site.
Planning permission for the site was granted in 2014 for up to 5,000 homes, three primary schools, public open space, community and healthcare facilities, as well as a place of worship.
Hopkins Homes is the largest independent property developer in East Anglia and builds homes throughout Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex. The firm won a Sunday Times British Homes Award in 2015.
Savills advised The Crown Estate and the Kilverstone Estate on the exchange.
