Head of Minerals and Coastal

David joined The Crown Estate in 2008 to head up the marine policy and planning team and is now the Head of Minerals and Coastal.

David leads a development and asset management team that works with numerous marine business sectors and stakeholders to  deliver value from the resources of the seabed and foreshore. He previously led the strategic advice to The Crown Estate’s offshore renewable energy and infrastructure portfolios across the UK on topic areas comprising marine spatial planning, marine conservation and marine policy. He has worked in marine resources management for over twenty years within a diverse range of organisations including, NGOs, industry, consultancies, universities and government agencies. 

David has a degree in environmental science and a PhD in marine management and pollution. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology.
