Nicola Clay
Head of New Ventures, Marine
Nicola joined The Crown Estate in 2021 as Head of New Ventures on our Marine team.
Nicola is a Chartered Environmentalist with 24 years’ experience of marine developments and port operations from the perspective of regulator, port operator and consultant.
Most recently, Nicola was Commercial Director for global maritime business at Royal HaskoningDHV, an international consulting engineers firm, where she led the commercialisation of the business and development of new propositions.
Nicola spent 12 years working for consultancies leading on infrastructure development, strategic business and policy guidance projects. Prior to that she was responsible for running the dredging and environment department of the Port of London Authority. Nicola also led a Marine Consents Team for the UK Government and was an environmental scientist at Cefas.
Nicola has held the role of Chair of the UK Ports industry Environmental Policy Group, Chair of the UK Central Dredging Association and Chair of the European Marine Framework Directive Navigation Sector Group.
