Vijay Bharadia appointed to The Crown Estate Board

Vijay Bharadia has been appointed to the Board of The Crown Estate with effect from 1 April 2023. He will become Chair of the Audit Committee this summer after the publication of The Crown Estate’s Annual Report and Accounts for 2022/23. Vijay has substantial and wide-ranging experience in financial, operational and risk management in the alternative asset management sector, including real estate. Vijay is currently the Chief Financial and Operating Officer and an Executive Director Board member at Intermediate Capital Group PLC (ICG), where he recently announced his intention to step down from his role in July. Previously, Vijay was the International CFO for Blackstone with responsibility for financial, tax and regulatory reporting across Europe and Asia. Prior to that he served as Co-CFO for EMEA Equities and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Vijay brings a wealth of financial and investment, as well as governance and risk management, experience to the Board. He will play an important role in ensuring that we are operating in the best possible way to generate shared and lasting prosperity for the nation by generating a strong return for the public purse whilst also helping to make a difference to some of the most pressing social and environmental issues.”

Vijay Bharadia said: “I am delighted to be joining The Crown Estate at such an exciting time. I look forward to working with the Board and management teams to support The Crown Estate to realise its potential in supporting the green transition and increased security of our energy sector and the regeneration of our rural and urban environments.” The recruitment of Vijay Bharadia was made in accordance with the Code of Practice published by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. The positions are appointed by the His Majesty The King under Royal Warrant, following recommendation by the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Prime Minister.
