THE CROWN ESTATE DELIGHTED THAT LATEST REGENT STREET REDEVELOPMENT IS ‘TOPPED OUT’
25 April 2007
On Thursday 19 April 2007 The Crown Estate was delighted to jointly participate with Sir Robert McAlpine in the ‘topping out’ ceremony of 103-113 Regent Street, on the west side of Regent Street at the corner of Swallow Street. A topping out ceremony is the construction industry’s traditional event to mark the structural completion of the building.
The development is due for completion in March 2008 and the flagship retail accommodation is already under offer, and it is hoped it will be trading by Christmas 2007.
The development also comprises 5,000 sq m (54,000 sq ft) of the very best quality office accommodation, which will further help secure Regent Street as a highly desirable office location. In addition, there will also be seven luxury apartments.
The W1 development is the latest building to be refurbished as part of The Crown Estate’s £500 million redevelopment project. Over the last three years over 40 new retailers have moved onto Regent Street and the successful building developments at 132-154, 185-201 and 229-247 Regent Street have seen Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander, Apple and King Sturge make Regent Street home to their corporate headquarters.
David Shaw, Head of Regent Street Strategy and Development at The Crown Estate said: “The heritage of Regent Street has been maintained and enhanced whilst creating modern accommodation behind the Regent Street façade. Our work here also allows us to upgrade Swallow Street and Vine Street, both to create the best possible approach to the building but also to improve the public realm.”
