CLASSIC FILM NIGHTS IN HEDDON STREET, LONDON W1

20 July 2005

Heddon Street — The Regent Street Food Quarter — is hosting alfresco dining and classic movies over the month of August. This cinematic feast is being presented in association with Sky and TCM (Turner Classic Movies), and The Crown Estate, the owners of Heddon Street.

Over the next month Heddon Street, the Regent Street food quarter, will be transformed into an open-air cinema, as Sky show some of Hollywood’s most iconic and stylish movies courtesy of TCM.

The Tuesday night movies will be shown on an enormous 27 square metre screen, with a state of the art sound system to bring the thrill of the silver screen to Heddon Street.

The line-up of classic movies starts on Tuesday 9 August at 8pm, to promote Sky’s ‘What Do You Want to Watch?’ campaign, as well as TCM’s ‘Summer Under The Stars’ season that air on the channel in August.

For more information please visit the Regent Street website.

  • 9 August – High Society - 1956

Starring Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Celeste Holm and Louis Armstrong.  This classic musical remake of the 1940’s Philadelphia Story demonstrates that love will eventually, after much confusion and deliberation, conquer all.

  • 16 August – North by Northwest - 1959

Cinema gold would not be complete without an Alfred Hitchcock drama.  Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and James Mason star in this iconic Hitchcock work, where mistaken identity most definitely leads to misadventure.

  • 23 August - Cool Hand Luke - 1967

Paul Newman and George Kennedy both were nominated for Oscars in this 1967 drama, delivering powerful performances as they work in a prison chain gang.  Watch out for appearances from a very young Dennis Hopper and Harry Dean Stanton.

  • 30 August - An American In Paris - 1951

This Gene Kelly classic won six Academy Awards for his renowned performance.  Dance sequences spun around Gershwin songs accent Kelly’s romantic pursuit of perfume shop clerk ‘Leslie Caron’ in her beguiling screen debut.

Each open-air screening will begin at 8pm in the seclusion of Heddon Street as diners eat alfresco and choose from a list of special dishes and drinks created with a movie theme by the following venues:
