NEW DEPUTY HEAD OF SCOTTISH MARINE ESTATE FOR THE CROWN ESTATE

The Crown Estate announces the appointment of Alex Adrian to the new position of Deputy Head of its Scottish Marine Estate.

Based in Edinburgh, Alex ’s role will be wide-ranging, covering all marine areas in Scotland. He will work closely with The Crown Estate team, specialist marine agents Bidwells and Bell Ingram, customers and other groups who have a keen interest in Scotland’s coastline.

Born in Zimbabwe, Alex Adrian moved to Scotland in the late 1980s and has worked in senior positions for Pan Fish Scotland Ltd in Argyll for 18 years, latterly as technical manager. He holds an MSc in Applied Fish Biology and a BSc (Honours) in Zoology.

Ian Pritchard, Head of Scottish Marine Estate at The Crown Estate, said: “We are delighted that Alex is to join our team here in Scotland. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which will be invaluable in his role with us.

“Alex will be working closely with our agents and customers to better understand how we can help them succeed and to identify investment opportunities for The Crown Estate with in the marine environment.”

Alex Adrian commented: “I am looking forward to working throughout Scotland with The Crown Estate team to support and develop further their work in the marine environment. I believe conservation, commerce and community development are key priorities as we move forward seeking new investment opportunities for the long term benefit both of our stakeholders and the environment.”

Alex Adrian will take up his new post on 8 January 2007.
