13 December 2007

The Crown Estate has this week pre-let the remaining c 9,000 sq ft office space at One Vine Street to Generation Investment Management, a sustainability-focused asset management business, co-founded by former Vice President of the United States, Al Gore and former CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, David Blood. Generation will take a 10-year lease of the first floor of the building on confidential terms.

The third financial / investment firm to sign at One Vine Street, Generation will join Matrix, who earlier this year agreed to take the entire third, fourth and fifth floors, totalling approximately 31,300 sq ft, and Lloyds TSB, which has taken the entire 14,500 sq ft second floor.

David Shaw, Head of Regent Street Strategy and Development at The Crown Estate said: “Generation is the perfect tenant for this development given our commitment to sustainability and this letting is further endorsement of Regent Street’s position as the place for business in the West End.”

David Blood, Managing Partner of Generation Investment Management, said: “We are delighted to be moving our London office to One Vine Street. The Crown Estate’s development, which has an excellent BREEAM rating, clearly demonstrates its long standing commitment to sustainability. This is fully aligned with our own company’s values and investment approach which places distinct emphasis on sustainability.”

Spring 2008 will also see the opening of National Geographic’s flagship store in the entire 20,000 sq ft retail element of the Vine Street block, at 83 – 97 Regent Street. The first in the world, the store will showcase National Geographic’s full range of products and services in a groundbreaking interactive multimedia environment.

CB Richard Ellis acted as letting agents for The Crown Estate and City and West End as The Crown Estate’s development managers. In addition, legal firm SJ Berwin acted on behalf of The Crown Estate whilst Clifford Chance represented Generation.
