THREE EXCITING NEW RETAILERS FOR REGENT STREET

27 October 2004

The Crown Estate has secured pre-lettings with Apple, Ted Baker and Lacoste for their flagship stores in the first three of five new Regent Street retail units created within the mixed retail, residential and office development at 229-247 Regent Street.

This will be the first Apple store in Europe, and will cover more than 2,000 sq m (22,000 sq ft) over ground and first floors. Ted Baker are taking a store of approximately 750 sq m (8,000 sq ft), which will retail menswear, ladies wear, children’s wear , accessories and home furnishings. Lacoste will trade from 230 sq m (2,500 sq ft) in their second West End store.

David Shaw, Head of Regent Street Strategy and Development at The Crown Estate, said: “We are delighted to have secured three such excellent brands to add to the existing retail tenant mix on Regent Street. The £500 million refurbishment programme for Regent Street is enabling us to attract the best of national and international retailers and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the new spaces when they have been fitted out ready for this year’s Christmas trade. These lettings together with those already completed over the last year with Hobbs, Massimo Dutti and Molton Brown underline Regent Street’s position as a street of quality, heritage, style and success.”

Two more retailers have recently joined Regent Street’s list of international brands and quality names: Hawes and Curtis, the shirt makers and Petite Bateau, the children’s clothing retailer.

The Crown Estate was advised by CB Richard Ellis and SJ Berwin. Their specialist retail letting knowledge ensured the completion of the deals that brought Apple, Ted Baker and Lacoste to Regent Street, where time is always well spent.

Cushman and Wakefield Healey and Baker acted for Apple, Orme Retail acted for Ted Baker and Ashley Phillips Selwyn acted for Lacoste.
