16 August 2007

The six winners of a stunning photographic competition to capture the unique nature of The Royal Landscape are announced today by Philip Everett, Deputy Ranger, Windsor Great Park. The competition, which received over 150 entries, asked enthusiast (17+) and young photographers (8-16) to capture an aspect of The Royal Landscape broadly or in detail within the months of February to June 2007.

The six winners are:

Enthusiast Photographers

  • Winner Shapour Bahrah, Isleworth, Middlesex
  • 1st runner up Michael de Glanville, Sunninghill, Berkshire
  • 2nd runner up Dace Umblija, Knaphill, Woking, Surrey

Young Photographers

  • Winner Chloë de Glanville, Sunninghill, Berkshire (age 14)
  • 1st runner up Robin Bilgil, Rudgwick, West Sussex (age 16)
  • 2nd runner up Hannah Fisher, Maidenhead, Berkshire (age 10)

Representing the judging panel, professional photographer Warwick Sweeney commented: “The standard of entries to the competition was fantastic. We were impressed by both the imaginative ideas behind the photographs and the eye for detail together with the technical ability of the entries. The range of images captured the essence of The Royal Landscape from expansive views to beautiful tiny details.”

There will be an exhibition showing the photographs of the winners and those who were highly commended at the Savill Building from 17 August to the end of October. The Savill Building and Savill Garden are open every day from 10am to 6pm.
