THE CROWN ESTATE SIGN CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT WITH SIR ROBERT MCALPINE FOR THE LATEST MAJOR REGENT STREET PROJECT

13 July 2006

The Crown Estate's Roger Bright and Sir Robert McAlpine's David McAlpine signed the building contract this week for the £90m project at 83-97 Regent Street. The new building which is part of the £500m investment in Regent Street by The Crown Estate  will deliver 20,000 sq ft of retail units and 54,000 sq ft of office space together with seven high quality flats.

This latest deal in the redevelopment of Regent Street comes only months after The Crown Estate moved our own headquarters from the Georgian splendour of St James's to a striking mixed-use development in New Burlington Place, in the heart of the Regent Street portfolio

New Burlington Place links Regent Street and Savile Row. Our move here reinforces our commitment to Regent Street and our belief in the quality of the projects we are developing.

As our £500 million Regent Street redevelopment programme progresses, the area is also fast becoming a favoured office location with international office occupiers such as Kaupthing and Apple. New offices of over 300,000 sq. ft have been developed in Regent St over last four years.
