Trees and the adventure playground at Windsor Great Park

Adventure for all the family, new playground opens at Windsor

The Windsor Estate

Families will be able to explore a fascinating world of giant acorns, treehouses and suspended walkways at the new Adventure Play experience in Windsor Great Park when it opens on Tuesday 11 July.

Set over 1.2 acres and created using sustainably-sourced wood from the Windsor Estate, the extensive playground offers a safe and exploratory space for everyone.

The woodland walkway at the centre of the playground experience provides an opportunity for all the family to get up close with spectacular trees and experience the surrounding natural environment in a way that wouldn’t be possible on the ground.

Designed for families to explore and play together, Adventure Play offers obstacles and activities tiered for children of different abilities and confidence, with one fully accessible route. The circulation throughout the play areas has wide and level footpaths alongside frequent passing and rest points, making it wheelchair accessible and suitable for assistance dogs.Other additions include sensory play and an accessible slide, with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) sessions launching later this year.

Paul Sedgwick, Deputy Ranger of Windsor Great Park, said: “We’re excited to be opening our new Adventure Play experience. This is play at its best – bringing children and families closer to nature, providing a multi-sensory experience and designed to help children test their comfort zones in a safe and fun way.

“Built with sustainably sourced wood from the Estate, the playground captures the magic of our wonderful Windsor Great Park, and we hope will win the hearts of new and existing visitors alike.”
