In Autumn 2025, the Public Accounts Committee launched an inquiry into residential property arrangements provided to members of the Royal Family with The Crown Estate.

In line with our commitment to transparency and our accountability to Parliament, we welcomed the news of this inquiry. Over the past few months, we have been working with the National Audit Office (NAO) to respond to their questions and to fully support the inquiry process.

In June the NAO published a report setting out the arrangements for residential accommodation for members of the Royal Family provided by The Crown Estate and the Royal Household.

The NAO’s review confirmed that leases with members of the Royal Family were agreed in line with independent, professional advice and open market valuations. We look forward to discussing the report further with the Public Accounts Committee in due course.

The Crown Estate's issued a statement:

A spokesperson for The Crown Estate, said: “The Crown Estate welcomes the National Audit Office’s review which confirms its leases with members of the Royal Family were agreed in line with independent, professional advice and open market valuations. We look forward to discussing the report further with the Public Accounts Committee in due course.”
