Morgan Offshore Wind Site Tender

The Crown Estate launched a competitive tender process for the Morgan offshore wind site in the Irish Sea, creating an opportunity for developers to secure rights to build and operate a project with a potential capacity of up to 1.5GW. The site has the potential to generate enough electricity to power around 1.5 million homes, supporting the UK's clean energy ambitions and strengthening long-term energy security.

About the Morgan site

The Morgan site is in the Irish sea, 22.22km from the Isle of Man and 37.13km from the North West Coast of England. The site has key characteristics which drove its original selection as a site for a fixed offshore wind project:

  • 36m water depth

  • 10mm/s wind speed

  • 1.5GW maximum capacity

  • 300 KM2 site area

Tender timeline

The tender launched in July 2026, with bidder submissions expected during the summer. An ascending clock auction will take place later in the year, with a successful bidder expected to be announced in December 2026.
