We want to play a positive role in the communities we serve, helping them to meet their goals and contributing to the lasting success of our places and the people who use them. We know that to be successful dialogue is required and partnership working, and our approach is driven by our ambition to work together to help overcome the challenges we face as a society.

Given the rich diversity of our places, our contribution looks different in each of our places. This page explains more about some of the ways we’re working with communities in the areas we operate.

Unlocking skills and employment

We’re working in partnership with the Department of Work and Pensions, to help bridge the gap between local employment needs and job opportunities with our customers, places and partners. This includes:

  • Our Recruit Regional programme, a supported employment service which helps local unemployed people into roles at our destinations
  • Our Mentoring Circles initiative, which provides coaching for young people looking to find their first role or improve their prospects
  • Our Skills Centres are sector specific training courses that we facilitate with local providers and partners to upskill unemployed people to become job-ready for roles in the local area linked to our business, our customers or our supply chain.

Creating accessible and inclusive places

From auditing our digital platforms, to improving our physical environments, we’re on a journey to ensure our places are truly accessible to all. This is just the beginning of that journey and we’re working with expert partners, including disability charities, Purple and AccessAble, to help shape our path.

  • One part of creating more accessible places, is giving disabled visitors, the confidence to come, knowing exactly what they can expect. We’re partnering with AccessAble, to undertake expert accessibility audits of our places, from Regent Street in Central London, to our regional destinations and Windsor Great Park. This work is also vital in helping our team to understand where we can make improvements, to ensure our places are as inclusive as possible.
  • We know accessibility is not only about our physical environments, it’s vital online too. That’s why we’ve partnered with Purple, to evolve our websites, to ensure they are accessible as possible.
  • We’re reviewing our approach to recruitment working with specialist disability recruiter Evenbreak to ensure our job adverts are not presenting barriers to people with disabilities and to advertise on a disability jobs board.

 Community-led design

  • As part of our development of Fosse Park West in Leicestershire, we wanted to reflect the diversity, heritage and culture of the community. We invited a number of schools and older people’s groups to take part in workshops to inspire, influence and contribute to the design of some major artworks that would make up a vast public area in the new place. The collaboration has resulted in a bold, colourful space which brings to life local wildlife, history and recreation.
