Our Rural portfolio of agricultural land and property, primarily comprised of tenanted arable working farms, includes estates such as Gorhambury in Hemel Hempstead and Putteridge near Luton.
Across our rural portfolio, we focus on quality, better performing estates, with larger lot sizes, more productive farms and modern tenancies that give us the best chance of delivering performance in the long term.
We work closely with our tenants to ensure the long-term sustainability of the land they manage. A great example of this is our work to improve the understanding of soil quality and good management, in order to help protect productivity over the long-term.
As part of this, with the support of organisations such as the Tenant Farmers Association and the National Farmers’ Union, we are building soil management policies into all of our new farm tenancy agreements. We’ve also funded a series of workshops with the Royal Agricultural Society of England, to help provide guidance on enriching and protecting soils, helping to ensure that all of our customers are adopting good soil management practices.
We see this as being fundamental in helping to improve and safeguard quality and yield for farmers, as well as enhancing asset value.
