St James's Market welcomes Cubitt House and Snow Peak
St James’s Market – the joint venture between The Crown Estate and Oxford Properties – is to welcome new emerging retail and gastro cuisine brands, with the announcement that Snow Peak, the Japanese outdoors and lifestyle brand, and the independent public house group Cubitt House are coming to the central London location.
Snow Peak broke into the outdoor lifestyle space in 1958 in Japan. Its Founder Yukio Yamai, was a keen mountaineer and outdoors enthusiast which led him to create Snow Peak’s original products. This year, Snow Peak will establish its first UK outlet with a flagship store on Regent Street St James’s. Boasting 4,300 sq ft of shopping space and split over three floors the flagship store will showcase the best of Snow Peak’s Japanese camping equipment, gear and clothing. The basement will offer a practical space where retail staff can demonstrate and customers can experience the equipment, while the ground floor will house a tea and coffee bar where shoppers can relax and hydrate.
“When looking for a flagship store in Europe, we were excited to find such a great retail space in St James’s Market. Surrounded by specialty stores and restaurants with a quality focus, we are very happy to begin our new chapter of the business here”, said Kei Saito, Director of Snow Peak UK.
The Beau Brummell, a new gastropub from renowned provider Cubitt House, will sit in the central courtyard of St James’s Market with an outdoor terrace and two floors of seating and dining. The Cubitt House group run a collection of unique public houses in exclusive neighbourhoods in prime central London locations. The Beau Brummell will be their first venture into St James’s.
Tony Gualtieri, Managing Director of Cubitt House said: “We are very excited to be opening in St James’s Market and establish ourselves in the local community with The Beau Brummell. The pub will offer an extensive focus on wine including a special range from the best British producers as well as fine ales, crafted cocktails and a locally sourced, farm-to-fork food offering available from breakfast through to dinner.”
