The Crown Estate receives latest feedback from the market and stakeholders, ahead of finalising plans for Round 4

Following a second round of engagement on its proposals for new offshore wind leasing, The Crown Estate is now reviewing the feedback it has received from the market and stakeholders, as part of its work to finalise plans for Round 4.

Once it has reviewed all the feedback received and considered the implications for the design of Round 4, The Crown Estate will share a further update on its plans, prior to a proposed launch.

The Crown Estate’s engagement in November 2018 included dedicated events attended by more than 130 industry representatives and 30 specialist stakeholder representatives. Following these sessions, stakeholder organisations and the market were invited to share their views on The Crown Estate’s proposed tender design for Round 4, as well as its work to refine the regions of seabed to be offered to market.

Jonny Boston, Business Development Manager at The Crown Estate, said:  “As we work to finalise our plans for Round 4, we’ve been delighted to see high levels of engagement from both the market and stakeholders and we are grateful to everyone who has taken time to share their views. The feedback we have received will form an important input to our work to balance a range of interests on the seabed, as we seek to design a leasing process which is fair, responsible and competitive and which will help deliver on the UK’s low-carbon energy needs for decades to come.”

Following the formal launch of Round 4, currently proposed for late Spring 2019, The Crown Estate expects to hold a Bidders’ Information Day to set out further details about the tender process including the PQQ (Pre-Qualification) and ITT (Invitation to Tender) stages.
